Meredith and Daddy took their first SOLO trip this past weekend. They hit the road and traveled far to visit their Mimi and Papa - and they encountered a weekend full of adventure.
Their weekend included a trip to Pappy's Strawberry Patch where they were able to pick fresh stawberries right off the vine(?).
That is A LOT of Yummy Strawberries.
During the weekend Meredith had a chance to visit her Uncle Lance's firestation and see a fire truck up close and personal. (Meredith loves fire trucks.)
The weekend was topped off by a trip to a very active butterfly garden. There, Meredith has a chance get up close and personal with some beautiful butteflies and she was surrounded by flowers - which she loves to smell.

Strawberries grow on stems on plants which are planted on mounds in rows. Meredith was quick to learn how to tug the strawberries off the stems and pick only the red (not yucky)ones and did great. She obviously has better eyesight than her Papa. Mmmm the strawberries were great and lucky they were picked before the freezing weather shortly afterwards. Unfortunately Mimi, Daddy and Meredith forgot a care package to take some home to Mama.
The Butterfly encounter offered something for everyone: interaction with the butterflies, feeding them Gatorade or finding the varieties as shown on the chart; looking at the beautiful butterfly garden; or picking up green beads that were part of the mulch around the flowers. Guess which one intrigued Meredith the most and who else would have even noticed the green beads?!
Uncle Lance was so happy that Meredith and Daddy came for a visit. Meredith was eager to get out of the car to go to see the fire engines when Uncle Lance appeared and then she hung her head and cried. She did enjoy the tour after all but her daddy had concerns when Meredith's favorite thing was dancing around the pole, that is, the pole the fireman slide down to go to a fire.
Mimi and Papa certainly had a fun weekend and we were glad to have Meredith and Daddy visit and that Mommy had some quality time for herself. I love all of you, Mimi
